Picture Time-Spring Break

Okay, I got very busy and didn't send pictures over here to put up on the blog. I have some pictures that I really wanted to get put up showing the "big boys"--I was going to do separate posts for each of the kids but it is already almost 2 weeks past the break so I thought I would just put some up now. I will probably let the pictures stand for themselves but I think a few need some comment. The first picture is similar to the one my lovely wife now has at the top of her blog. DS#2 is on top of a hill on the very windy (and cold) Tuesday I described somewhere below. You can actually see the snow being blown off the mountain tops in the background. I just think this picture and the one she uses are really nice.

The rest of the pictures show the kids playing outside (or inside with grandpa). The kids were delighted to see their cousin J during the break as we don't get to see him very often. They all had a great time.

Sorry ...

Sorry folks, I just haven't had time to send some of the pictures over to this computer in order to post more about the Spring Break trip. Right now I am in the process of upgrading the older mac desktop and can't get the pictures there either ;).

Anyway, I do know that I still "owe" some pictures of the big boys during vacation and I really will get to it, um, soon.

DD in the snow!

One thing we definitely discovered during our Spring Break vacation is the fact that DD loves being outside in the snow. She spent countless hours playing in the backyard with her brothers and her cousin and took to skiing with a real passion.

We were going to start skiing on Tuesday, but it was snowing and VERY windy and cold so we decided to go sledding instead. DD ended up playing at the playground with DS#3 while the big boys took some sled runs. It was actually so windy and cold that we didn't even stay there very long.

DD took half day lessons on Wednesday and Friday but a full day on Thursday. She was skiing blue runs and bumps with confidence on Friday afternoon. We would have taken pictures or video but she was off and we simply had to keep up.

I have to say that if you are going to be in the Keystone-Breckenridge-Arapahoe Basin area and have small kids, you WANT to go to A-Basin for ski lessons. The instructors are fantastic and DD's instructor, George Collins, is particularly fantastic.

Don't worry, I will get to DS#2 and DS#1 as the week goes on.

Back Home

Well, we are back home from our Spring Break vacation to Colorado to see my parents and get some playtime in the snow. I will try to post pictures that don't overlap with my lovely wife's, but that gets difficult.
Today, we'll focus on DS#3 and how much he really, really did NOT want to get in his snowsuit for his first trip outside after we got there.

I mean, he really HATED the snowsuit.

Once outside, he calmed down, but was still a bit hesitant.

After a bit he really started to have fun.

Lots of fun!

Yes, he cried when we brought him inside ...

Spring Break

Well, we are off to Colorado tomorrow to see my parents and get some skiing in.
Before leaving, I thought I'd post some more pictures. Last time I posted pictures with the "big" boys, today it is going to be all about DS#3. I guess this means that I will have to post some more pictures of DD in the future.
The best thing about being a stay-at-home dad is being able to spend time with my children when it is all about playing. DS#3 and I get to hang out in the backyard a lot when the weather is nice. Here he is playing in the playhouse in the backyard.
Today we went to one of the local SA parks before going to "Play and Learn" at Gymboree. He wanted his shoes off so he could play in the sand --or so I thought-- so I took them off and he promptly headed out onto the wood mulch near the playground equipment. I told him that we should put his shoes back on, well, you can see his reaction and probably guess what he is saying. In the next few pictures you can see what he thinks of papa's opinion, ---no shoes on those cute feet!

Here I try to snap a quick picture of him going down the slide. Yes, I clipped off the top of his head and a few of his toes. OUCH!

Red Flag Weekend

Well, some of you probably know that "Red Flag Warnings" are given when there are very high winds and a high fire danger. This weekend was pretty much mostly a red flag weekend. In other words, VERY windy. Soccer in very high winds is, well, interesting. Oh, it was also quite cold, at least compared to the mid 80's we had on Friday. Both boys had 2 games Saturday and 2 games today. Saturday was the worst day for wind and cold. Today it started out colder but it wasn't as windy. This flag picture is from Saturday morning.
I don't know why is tongue is out. This is from the Saturday morning (7:30 AM) game. Maybe he has dirt in his mouth.

Okay, here is DS#2 kicking with style!

DS#2's team did great, but I think the coach and the team manager got a little caught up in wanting to win. They won their first 3 games pretty decisively, but only had one shut out, the other team had 2 shutouts so they were one point ahead. The final game, a 0-0 tie so his team was second in the tournament and the other took first (on points).

DS#1's team had a terrible fall, losing several games that they really should have won. There was one team that we had a close game with, but really, we dominated the tournament. It looks like the team is starting to click. They are passing well and moving the ball nicely so we are hoping the spring season will be better than in the fall.
