Some Time at the Park

So far today has been a fairly relaxing day. I haven't gotten much done either than some laundry and a little bit of grocery shopping, but DS#3 and I have had quite a bit of fun together.

Lately, he has been playing by himself very, very well. This is a little bit surprising as he has had so many people around for most of the summer. Even if one or the other of his siblings was off playing somewhere else, somebody else had friends over so it seemed like there was always someone around for him to interact with.

This morning he was so busy playing with his trains, and having wonderful conversations, that I had to just watch. The playtime turned into "silly smiles" anytime he noticed me trying to catch a video so I put the camera away and just enjoyed it.

I decided to go ahead and take him to the park today, we picked up McDonald's (no, not a big fan, but he loves it and let's face it, he needs to put on some pounds) on the way and ate BEFORE playing. He ran around enough that he actually got hot and decided he wanted to go home and sleep. No, he didn't sleep, I knew it was early for that, but hey, it sounded good to me ;). So far, it is a napless day and late enough now that I probably won't bother.

Fortunately, I did get some pictures (have to earn points with my lovely wife) but I already deleted most of them. The middle picture of him at the bottom of the slide will probably go too, but I had to post it because I love the way the static from the slide made his hair stand up. I wish you could see the joy on his face as he was coming down, but I just couldn't get a good shot of him on the slides today.

My biggest surprise was that he not only wanted to sit on the swing, he wanted to actually swing. For a long time he seemed afraid of swings and swinging, lately he would sit on them but not swing. Now, he enjoys swinging too!

Well, the day isn't close to over yet. DS#3 is coming down the stairs, it sounds like it is time to read a book again. DS#2 and DD get off the bus at about 3:00 PM after which I need to get them to practice their respective instruments, take care of their homework, etc. before dinner and soccer practices tonight. In other words, I thought I'd post these now because I probably won't be posting anything tonight.
