Mother's Day

Sunday was a busy day but we DID go out for brunch Sunday morning. This is a picture of my lovely wife and wonderful children at brunch. I think she was getting frustrated with how many pictures I took but there were some kids running around in the background and DS#3 was, well, refusing to smile, etc. DD had a few gifts for her mom that she made at school and DS#2 made some "coupons" for things like a massage (shoulder rub) and smiling for a picture. Yes, he loathes pictures enough that getting him to smile requires outright bribery, or "coupons." Then again, I suppose outright threats would work too.

Tonight DS#2 starts his Try-Outs for next year's U11 soccer teams. They will run Monday through Wednesday. We should know his new team on Thursday evening sometime (if we are home! Ha!) and have a team meeting with the new team on Friday. This is the first time he has had real "try-outs" but he doesn't seem nervous about it. He might be nervous this evening though. I always provide simple encouragement, "just do your best and have fun" and let them know that it is all about getting on a team that they'll enjoy playing on. He has a very real opportunity to make it on the "A" team and play DI (Division I) soccer. In one sense, I hope he does, in another I know that some of the kids he doesn't like much will be on that team. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how the try-outs go.

The only thing certain about the try-outs is that the humidity is very high here and it is already over 90 degrees. He will sleep well tonight.

DS#3 is waking up so I suppose it is time to get him out of bed and ready to meet the bus.
